KUHL PRAISES FIRST PIONEER FARM CREDIT FOR OFFER TO HELP DAIRY FARMERS

As part of June Dairy Month Celebration, First Pioneer Farm Credit is offering to prepare a free dairy benchmark report for any dairy farmer who requests it by July 31, 2007.

"Dairy farmers in the Northeast are suffering significant losses as a result of low farm milk prices and the growing costs associated with high gas prices, high feed prices and increased transportation costs," said Rep. Kuhl. "I am excited by First Pioneer Farm Credit's offer to help our dairy farmers, and hope that this tool will assist many of our precious dairy farmer's profitability and improve their operation's long-term viability."

The benefits of dairy benchmarking as a tool to assist farm owners and operators has been noted in a number of recent meetings held by organizations working to grow the dairy industry including the New York Farm Viability Institute and the Northeast Dairy Leadership Team.

According to First Pioneer Farm Credit, the largest lender to agriculture in the Northeast, dairy farming is the largest sector of the Northeast agriculture. As an industry, the dairy sector is a major economic engine in the Northeast creating jobs, maintaining a strong tax base for local communities, and generating business activity for other businesses.

Dairy farmers can receive a My Farm comparison report in which individual farm information is compared to information from the Northeast Dairy Farm Summary report. The offer is announced as part of June Dairy Month and farmers interested are asked to take advantage of the offer by July 31. While First Pioneer customers can obtain a My Farm benchmark report at any time - this is extended to non-Farm Credit members with no obligation.
